The Paint Creek Folklore Society presents the
44th Tin Whistle Concert
Saturday, November 14, 2015, with headliners:
RED TAIL RING is the musical brainchild of two old-time-minded Michiganders – Michael Beauchamp and Laurel Premo. Whether rendering a traditional tune or one of their many original compositions, the duo infuses each song with musical imagination, haunting harmonies and instrumental artistry on fiddle, banjo, mandolin, jawharp, and plain-old foot stomping. “We love pushing the boundaries of what a traditional song can be,” says Beauchamp. “It informs how we write our original songs. There’s a real energy exchange between the old and the new.”
Albert Young and Straight Eight – deliver their own brand of roots Americana mixed with folk, bluegrass and rock and roll. Fronted by Albert Young on guitar and mandolin, and the hot guitar work and harmonies of Jamie Shultz, with solid rhythm by Jeff Schott on upright bass, Straight Eight is a treat to hear and a joy to watch as they weave their way through their musical history.
And a Paint Creek Sampler, including:
The Campfire Compadres – Swing into the saddle with this lively trio featuring Doc Hannah, JD Ferguson and Malpais Maggie as they perform Songs of the West on banjo, guitar and mandolin.
Andy Stachowiak – accomplished guitarist and vocalist specializes in the Canadian maritime songs of Stan Rogers.
